A chrome extension to assist dyslexic readers by using visual imagery and sound feedback to help learn words
We developed a chrome extension that shows an image of the selected text, and shows synonyms of the words selected. Our target user will be the elementary school kids and the students with learning disabilities, who have trouble remembering and learning. We found several studies that students with dyslexia find an easier time understanding images than text, so we believe this can make a positive difference in helping students with dyslexia understand text.
Main Function Once the extension is installed in Google Chrome, whenever the user selects a text word and double-clicks it, a pop-up display appears, showing the image of the associated text. The pop-up also plays the sound (pronunciation) of the text in US-English accent enabling the user to learn the pronunciation as well.
